Heading for Isekai Planet with a great deal of Kami-Coins in order to repair their starship, Shio, Kosho, and Shoyu had a (surprise?) encounter with Truck-kun in space. It’s not entirely clear what happened next, so we’ll ignore this murky plot point and move on!
Our heroines awake in a new world, and are greeted by the goddess Aqua (from KonoSuba). The goddess let them know that, not only were they experiencing a new world, it was a whole new reality! Also, 2020 and 2021 seem to have slipped by in a blur… somehow. Aqua tasked Shio and Kosho with destroying the demon king of this new world! Who also happens to run a fast food restaurant? Sure—why not?
We met Maou (from The Devil Is a Part-Timer!), along with Subaru (from Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World), Katarina (from My Next Life as a Villainess), and Rimaru (from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime). Kosho was ready to take out demon king Maou using the power of darkness. Shio respected Maou’s hustle (did she really “we’re not so different” a demon king?), and wants instead to use the power of love and friendship to depose this demonic regent, taking over herself!
Kami-Con Season 14 would either be Love is War, or Darkness Rises—but with the girls again at odds as to their plan of action, how to choose? Rimaru suggested a series of competitions for the congirls and congoers to participate in, with whichever side won the most competitions getting to choose how to proceed and next year’s theme.
After battling it out in a series of games and challenges, the congoers decided!
Kami-Con: Darkness Rises!
And so, we follow Kosho now into the rising darkness. But to what end?
Please note: Autograph pricing is not set or controlled by Kami-Con
“Everything should be fine now as long as they don’t all, say, crash their starship into a mysterious beach planet… right?”
Of course they crashed their starship into a mysterious beach planet. Everyone saw this coming—especially with Shio driving!
Finding themselves suitably marooned, Shio, Kosho, and Shoyu hatched a plan to fix their ship using supplies bought from the other local planets in the system. With a lack of local money, though, they seemed to be a little stuck.
Luckily, they met some new friends on this beach planet! It turns out they had crash landed on the planet where all the local pirates come to stash their pirate booty! Because it’s like, all beaches. You get the joke, yeah? They met up with Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece and Revy from Black Lagoon—both pirates of, shall we say, different sensibilities. Also Kazuma from Konosuba for some reason—less of a pirate, but no less interested in treasure!
Luffy hailed from nearby Shōnen Planet, filled with themes of friendship, rivalry, and self-improvement! An exciting planet of contests, camaraderie, and food!
Revy hailed from nearby Seinen Planet, themed around technology, politics, and horror—a planet of character-driven narrative, and slice of life stories.
Kazuma came from the the nearby Isekai Planet—a planet overrun with high-speed trucks that transport you to yet another world through metaphysical chicanery. For some reason, Shoyu liked this planet the best.
With a source of local currency literally at their feet, all that was left was to decide which planet to visit for repairs. Turns out, these sisters and their Yandere Black Turtle magical animal mascot tend to… disagree at times. Shio wanted to head to exciting Shōnen Planet, Kosho to edgy Seinen planet, and Shoyu wanted to go to Isekai planet so they could get hit by trucks.
What to do? Let the congoers decide! You the congoers helped our heroes to collect coins to pay for the repairs, and used them to decide which planet to go to! After a long, sandy weekend of treasure hunting, the decision was made! Isekai Planet! Shoyu gets his way! (Again!)
So onward we go to a world anew! Looks like it’s got a strangely familiar theme for anyone who’s been around since the beginning of Kami-Con…
Shio and Kosho, with the help of YOU the congoers, defeated the alien forces and grounded Shoyu on planet Vidya—a world where the physics, landmarks, and inhabitants have developed into something remarkably similar to the video games we are familiar with here on Earth. However, it seems that Shoyu would not be defeated so easily. After crash landing on Vidya, he began to court the local inhabitants of the planet to join him and fight for his cause! With the planet he was supposed to be trapped on becoming a new source of power, it was up to you Kami-Congoers once again to rise to the occasion and help Shio and Kosho stop Shoyu! (This seems to happen a lot. Who would have known that having the Spirit of the Yandere Black Turtle for a magical animal mascot would have brought so much drama to Kami-Con? Oh, well!) With the help of the congoers, Shoyu only managed to recruit three powerful allies—Ken from Street Fighter, Princess Peach from Super Mario Bros., and Link from the Legend of Zelda. Shio and Kosho recruited Ryu from Street Fighter, and Vault Boy from Fallout. These heroes met on the battlefield known as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate! It was a truly epic match—and in the end, it was Shio and Kosho who proved victorious! His coup having been thwarted, Shoyu agreed to team back up with the congirls to continue their journey through space toward World Conquest! Everything should be fine now as long as they don’t all, say, crash their starship into a mysterious beach planet… right?
This time… With Shoyu looming over the Earth with his alien soldiers, will Space Captains Shio and Kosho have a chance to defeat him!? Maybe.. But they need YOUR HELP!
You are all cadets aboard the Starship Kami-Con. It is your jobs to work with your fellow congoers to build ships for Shio and Kosho’s star fleet. Collect pieces, trade, and build to rise in ranks! You can be promoted from Cadet, to Captain, all the way to Admiral!
But not Fleet Admiral, that’s reserved for Shio and Kosho. ;)
It’s up to you to helps the girls repel the alien forces! Good luck.
A new year, a new season, a new plot. And… a new universe!!
Last year, Kosho, along with her loyal congoers, helped restore Shio’s identity by completely rebooting the universe into an Extreme Sci-Fi world, full of futurustic new gadgets, technology, robots, androids, and aliens.
Hang on… Aliens!?
Yes, it seems that this universe comes fraught with its own perils. Just as Shio and Kosho were trying to find their place in the new world, their con was already being attacked by aliens. People were being infected and mind-controlled left and right, but nobody knew who was helping them!
Enter PHOENIX WRIGHT, Attorney at Law!
This was a mystery that could only be solved, in COURT! The congoers collected evidence throughout the con, solved mysteries, and pieced together clues to find out who among the con was helping the aliens take over and thwarting Shio and Kosho’s own plans for world conquest.
It was a tough case. It could have been anyone on stage. Shio, Kosho, Sailor Mercury, D.Va, Sailor Mercury, Kaiba, Sailor Mercury, Chi, Sailor Mercury, or even Sailor Mercury!
Hmmm… Who could it be? The clues were:– C.C.: The being had an aura of water.– D.Va: The perp was magical, and not tech based.– Kaiba: I hate to admit, but I found the perp k-kind of cute!– Sailor Mercury: I feel like I saw a star..– Phoenix Wright: The perp had some kind of adornment on their neck, like a tie, or ribbon.– Chi: Moon!
Clearly the perp was SAILOR MERCURY, who totally lied about the star to get everyone off her trail! Weirdly enough, the congoers all voted for Shoyu, which doesn’t make sense. He’s just a cute, magical, water-based creature, with a star on his forehead, a little neckerchief, and a moon on his tail..
In a world where Shio-chan never existed, what was to become of Kami-Con? Kosho alone ruled the convention, without any knowledge whatsoever that she ever had a sister. That’s where YOU came in, congoers!
Kosho and her loyal followers worked together to reboot the universe in order to restore Shio to her rightful place as one of our beloved congirls.
The congoers used their Kami-Gotchies (version 2.0) to collect their Otaku Spirit Energy and channel their points into one of four universes:– Cool Universe: A cool universe where everyone wears sunglasses– Japanese Universe: A Japanese universe where Japanese culture proliferated over all– Extreme Sci-Fi Universe: An extreme Sci-Fi universe set in a futuristic world where everyone has mechs and shouts a lot– Cute Universe: A cute universe, where everything is just kawaii and rainbows
In the end, the congoers chose the Extreme Sci-Fi universe as the new universe for Kami-Con. With the press of a button, our old universe was wiped clean, and a new Kami-Con was born!
Complete with new logo, outfits, and theme, Shio and Kosho were back in action and ready to bring a whole new world of anime to Alabama!
In Season 6 we saw poor Shio-chan lose her heart to the nasty Queen of Heartless, Kairi, who whisked her away to the land of Fantasy.
Kosho and her brave and loyal congoers had to muster up their courage and go in after their beloved Shio! But, Shio had become a Heartless, and was no longer the bright, happy congirl we loved. She had become a dark, evil queen in the land of Fantasy, and employed 8 dark generals to stop Kosho in her quest.
The generals, each holding a piece of Queen Shio’s heart, had challenges for Kosho and her congoers. They proved formidable indeed, as the generals TROUNCED the congoers, with only 2 of the 7 challenges having been beaten.
Shio’s heart unrestored, she faded away into nothingness and ceased to exist in the world. But she didn’t just disappear… She was wiped from reality itself.
Shio and Kosho could now finally step into the tall grass of World Conquest with their recently reacquired magical animal mascot Shoyu! Right? Wait.. Where’d he go??
Shoyu took off running and led the girls further into the grass, where they fell into a hole. A PLOT HOLE to another world where nothing made sense! An Anime Wonderland, created by all the plot holes of the previous years. To their dismay, they could not find an exit to this crazy place. Even worse, the world was crawling with Heartless, draining the Heart out of this world and its inhabitants, including Shio and Kosho.
Kairi, now Queen of the Heartless, found Shio and Kosho and offered them a choice of two doors, one leading to a land of Fantasy, and the other to a realm of Sci-Fi. If they and the congoers could raise their Heart levels high enough, Shio and Kosho’s hearts could be restored, and they could leave through the door of their choice. Unfortunately, Shio and Kosho’s hearts were already waning and they could not work together on a door. In the end, however, the congoers were able to raise their Heart levels enough to save the girls!
BUT… Kairi had other plans. She had tricked the girls, and only one congirl would be able to get her heart back. The other was to remain a Heartless, forever! Shio, in her infinite love for her sister, sacrificed her heart so that Kosho could continue on, and have a chance to save her next year in the land of Fantasy.
And with that, Shio was transformed into a Heartless, devoid of soul and her once cheery demeanor. Kairi whisked her away to the Fantasy land, leaving Kosho and the congoers to dwell on their failure.
Kami-Con Season 5 picked up the story from Season 4, where it was revealed that in order to continue their journey of World Conquest, Shio and Kosho would have to defeat Shoyu’s 7 Evil Exes.
His previous owners weren’t going away without a fight, so the congirls enlisted the aid of Kami-Con’s loyal attendees to help them defeat the exes!
Shoyu’s exes never stood a chance.
The congoers trounced the exes. They ate more donuts than Vash the Stampede in the Donut Eating Competition; They beat the legendary Utena at Sparring; They knew MORE TRIVIA than Radical Edward; They beat Yusuke in his very own Dodgeball Competition; They stopped Scanty and Kneesocks from taking over the Rave; and they beat Yugi at his own game during the Closing Ceremonies.
With the exes defeated, Shio and Kosho could now FINALLY continue their plans for world domination!
Right? This time?
Season 4 marked Shio & Kosho’s first attempt at World Conquest, which was foiled before they could even step into the tall grass. Professor Tree stopped them and informed the pair that it would be unwise and irresponsible to let two magical girls go out into the world without a magical animal mascot!
The professor provided the girls a magical spirit egg that could hatch into one of four forms based on otaku spirits— the Shonen Red Bird, the Tsundere Blue Dragon, the Yandere Black Turtle, or the Shojo White Tiger.
The congoers were equipped with Kami-Gotchies, actually just fancy pedometers, which could be used to raise Otaku Spirit Points to be turned in towards the animal mascot of their choice. In the end, the Yandere Black Turtle won out, and the egg hatched into what is now Kami-Con’s new magical animal mascot, Shoyu!
Now that Shio & Kosho had their magical animal mascot, they could FINALLY step into the tall grass, right??
Oh wait. Shoyu had been manifested before. Now the girls had to defeat his 7 Evil Ex Owners.
Kosho returned in full dictator garb to run Season 3 all on her own, having banned Shio from the convention! Alas, with so many dark characters running around everywhere, something bad was bound to happen. Jessie, James, and Aizen made an appearance, representing An Evil Anime-Licensing Organization That Overly Censors its Anime “For Kids”. They had come to censor the convention and have it shut down permanently.
Kosho alone was not powerful enough to stop Aizen, as he had a power level of 8,999. Unbeknownst to her, however, Shio had snuck into the convention disguised as Organization XIII’s Axel. Shio, with Tom from Toonami’s help, devised a plan with her friends to distribute Experience Point stickers to all of the congoers. If the congoers could get Kosho’s power level over 8,999, she would be able to beat Aizen and repel the evil organization!
In the end, the congoers more than managed the amount they needed, and pushed Kosho’s power level to OVER 9000!!!! Kosho defeated Aizen, but learned that a balance of Light and Dark is needed to run a convention, and welcomed Shio back with open arms. Now, they work together to build a fun convention for all!
In Kami-Con’s second year, we introduced Shio-chan’s younger sister, Kosho, who embodies all things cool and dark.
Kosho was peeved that Shio had run the con last year without her, and Kosho thought she could run it better as a Dark con. As such, she challenged Shio for the title of Official Kami-Con Mascot.
The congoers chose their side – Shio’s Light side or Kosho’s Dark one. Teams had the opportunity to earn points for their side by participating in events, playing games, going to panels, and various other activities.
In the end, Kosho’s Dark team won by a landslide, and Kosho was declared the official mascot for Kami-Con, and would run the convention as a Dark-themed con the following year.
This was Kami-Con’s pilot season, so there wasn’t much in the way of story, yet. However, there was still an interactive conwide game for all the congoers.
During Opening Ceremonies, the power flickered, and our guest from 4chan, Pedobear, was murdered! Nobody saw who did it, but master detective L from Death Note was on the case and sent the congoers on a quest to find the murderer! Each congoer could go to all of Shio’s anime friends and perform a simple task for them to receive a clue, which would lead them to the next character. After all the clues had been gathered, the congoer could pinpoint the culprit.
In the end, it was found that LINK was the murderer! It was Samantha Huggins, age 7, cosplaying as Zelda (hilariously enough) who gathered all the clues and turned Link in. She now lives in infamy on this web page.
